Having a Google account is mandatory for Android users. This is because Android-based smartphones need synchronization with a Google account to adjust settings and features. Actually, Android phones only need one Google account to customize settings and features.
However, not a few Android users have more than one Google account for their interests in one cellphone. The goals are different, one account is usually used for personal purposes, then the other account is used for work or business matters.
If you have added several Google accounts on your Android phone, of course there must be one account that functions as the default account. This means that the account is always used for the first time to access various Google services.
So, how do you change the default Google account on an Android smartphone to switch to another account? Here are the steps, as summarized from HowToGeek. First of all, keep in mind that if a user has multiple accounts, whatever account you enter first will be the “default” account on the phone.
So, the user must first sign out of the account if they want to change it. For that, the user must open the settings options on the phone. It should be noted, the “Settings” menu will vary for each Android device.
To make it easier, users can type the word “Google” in the search field in the “settings” menu. After that, select the “Google (services and preferences)” option.
The default Google account on the device will appear at the top of the screen. Then, select the arrow icon below the name and profile picture to display a list of accounts.
Next, tap the “Manage Accounts on this Device” option. After that, on the main page, the user will see a list of all the accounts registered on your device.
Select the Google account that was previously set as the default. Once selected, then press the account until the “Remove Account” option appears.
It is important to remember that deleting your Google account, of course, all data will also be deleted automatically from your Android phone.
Before deleting an account, users should first back up their data so that they are stored if they want to re-enter the account. After that, select “Remove Account” on the pop-up message to confirm that you agree. Automatically, the account will be removed from the list and your device.
Then tap the “Back” arrow in the top left corner to return to Google settings. On the Google settings page, select the up-down arrow icon to open a list of accounts. Then click the “Add Another Account” option.
Log In with the Google account which you want to be the default account on your Android phone. When done, the Google account will automatically become the new default on your phone.
